Sanitary pads

The Risks of Disposing of Sanitary Pads and Condoms in Drains

Sanitary pads might appear harmless, but they're dangerous when not disposed of correctly. Made from latex and synthetic materials, they don't decompose. They can expand and become lodged in pipes, causing blockages that halt water flow and result in expensive repairs.

Condoms, also manufactured from latex, can create similar issues when flushed. They can inflate with waste or water, making them more likely to block pipes. Once trapped, they're extremely difficult to extract and typically require a plumber.

To avoid these problems, always dispose of sanitary pads and condoms in the trash, not the toilet. Proper disposal protects your plumbing and the sewage system.
