Pancakes and waffles are common breakfast items made from flour, eggs, milk, sugar, and a leavening agent. Even vegan and gluten-free versions usually contain sugar. Typically, we top them with sweet syrups and sometimes bacon, which adds saturated fat and salt, increasing calories without much nutritional benefit.
