Eating muffins or pastries for breakfast is similar to having cake in the morning. Even muffins labeled as "healthy" can be high in sugar, especially if they contain chocolate or minimal fruit. Choose fruit-based muffins sparingly, and remember that most pastries are packed with saturated fats. Savory muffins with vegetables and less sugar may be a better choice, but pastries should be enjoyed only occasionally.
