They are strong pack animals that require rigorous training and strong leadership. The mastiff breed known as the Kangal dog is huge and strong enough to fend off predators such as wolves and bears. It is a large shepherd dog that originates from Turkestan. Depending on the environment and treatment, this breed can be a family's best friend or worst nightmare. Although the Kangal is protective, it is usually greeted with warmth and affection.
