Jackie Chan grew up as a young child in a typical Chinese household. His father was a cook while his mother worked as a maid. They fled to Hong Kong during the civil war and moved to Australia in 1960. Jackie was sent to study acting, philosophy and martial arts at the China Drama Academy. He lived in the closed school for ten years.

Jim Carrey attended a religious school and grew up in a Catholic household. His family ran into great financial difficulties after his father lost his job. Jim worked eight hours a day after school to support his family. He turned inward and became withdrawn. At sixteen, he left school and moved to Toronto to pursue a career as a comedian. He became successful after storming the stages of comedy clubs. The young actor supported his family and even had them briefly relocate to Los Angeles.
