Naomi Watts decided to pursue a career as a model at the age of 18 and after agreeing with a modeling agency, she was transferred to Japan. However, after a few unsuccessful auditions, she returned to Sydney. Watts was hired there for a department store advertisement, which caught the interest of the publication Follow Me, which hired her as an assistant fashion editor. Watts decided to give up her career and devote herself to acting after receiving an unexpected offer to attend a theater workshop.

Jessica Chastain danced as a teenager. She received her diploma from El Camino Fundamental High School in Sacramento in 1995. After graduating from high school, Chastain played Juliet in a production of "Romeo and Juliet."
