Jennifer Love Hewitt had already completed her tap and ballet training at the age of five. At the age of nine, she was part of the "Texas Show Team". Talent scouts advised her to move to Los Angeles, California at the age of 10 to pursue her acting and music career.

Aniston attended a Steiner school in New York. Her parents separated when she was nine years old. While she lived with her mother, she frequently traveled to Los Angeles to see her father, who was a cast member of the hit television show "Days of Our Lives" starring John Aniston. Jennifer began attending the Rudolf Steiner School's drama club at the age of eleven. In 1987, she attended the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts in New York to continue her professional education. After graduating from that school, she appeared in several Broadway productions.
